Riding the Rollercoaster of Cubs Baseball

From Heartbreaks to Hot Dogs: The Thrill of Being a Cubs Fan!

The Leadoff Man

Cubs fans, we've all been there - feeling the sting of an opening day loss, much like watching a homerun hopeful swing and miss. But just like Cody Bellinger dusting off a strikeout with a grin, we too have a chance at another at-bat. It's a reminder that in baseball, as in life, resilience is key. And it’s only March.

Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This

"Mama said there’d be days like this," croons the timeless 1963 hit by The Shirelles, a line that's become a personal mantra of mine after crappy loses. Fun fact: my connection to this song was cemented by the 1985 Bears' season recap video. This song played during the lowlight to the one blemish on their near-perfect season - a Monday Night Football loss to the Miami Dolphins. It's a lesson in resilience that's stuck with me, proving invaluable during the rollercoaster ride of being a lifelong Cubs fan.

Now, imagine if we pocketed a dollar every time the Cubs pulled off one of their heart-stopping comebacks. We'd be swimming in cash, right? And those moments when victory was just out of reach? Well, we'd probably have enough to buy Wrigley Field, slap our name on it, and keep the hot dogs coming for seasons on end. Taking ownership of Wrigleyville? Just the cherry on top. Who needs amusement parks when you've got a Cubs game to watch?

For those who might not be familiar, the 1985 Bears were a force to be reckoned with in the NFL. Yet, it's not just about these high-profile successes; it's about finding the strength to bounce back, to keep pushing forward, no matter what. It's a lesson the 2024 Cubs needed to learn and I’d rather lose in March than October

As we look ahead, let's not forget the rollercoaster that is Cubs baseball. I'd love to hear your most memorable Cubs moment or how you've drawn inspiration from our beloved team's ups and downs. After all, sharing these stories knits us closer together, strengthening our community of fans who are all too familiar with the saying, "Mama said there’d be days like this."

Onward Cubs! Mapping Our March to Victory

Who says every game can’t be a mini-drama filled with heart, hustle, and a bit of Cubs magic? Sure, we’ve got our work cut out for us – every team does. But it’s those jaw-dropping, popcorn-spilling comebacks that stick with us. So, what’s your most unforgettable Cubs moment? That game where you lost your voice cheering or the comeback that had you hugging strangers? Spill it – we’re all ears and ready for more.
Remember when the Cubs came back on Atlanta down 10-5 with a 9 run 8th inning. These comebacks are always in the back of my mind and make the tough losses more manageable.
